I can remember wanting to play bridge since I was ten years old. However, I did not know how to play and never had a partner to play with. When I stumbled upon an advertisement for bridge lessons at the Regina Duplicate Bridge Club both of my obstacles were overcome. I have learned to play bridge and have had the opportunity to play with several different partners. The bridge club is both competitive and helpful; while also being welcoming and a most enjoyable experience.

As a member of the Regina Duplicate Bridge Club and a casual player that learned to play in a small town, I have made some personal observations of the Club. If you are a beginner there are excellent teachers of the game and if you are a master there are members that will challenge your talents or enhance them. There will be discussions on the play of the hands but rare criticism of the partner’s play. The Club enforces that. There is great fellowship among the members and enough fun to look forward to the next sessions.

The Bridge Club has been a big part of my post retirement life. I enjoy the game of Bridge, but the friendships I have developed, I enjoy even more.

The Reasons I Enjoy the Winter Wednesday Morning Game
10:30 to 3:00 at the latest
All levels of players are welcome it is a stratified game.

Reason # 1:

I drive to and from the club in daylight.  Additionally, I avoid the Regina rush hour!

Reason # 2:

Being a creature of habit I work the buying of necessities: groceries, gas, spirits, et cetera into my Wednesday outing.

Reason # 3

I like visiting with a variety of players during the lunch break.  Our club has a coffee machine, microwave, pop machine and fridge. Forget your food?  No problem—pop over to the mall and pick up a lunch.

Reason # 4

Bridge itself.  Such a good way to stretch my brain!

So, to wrap it up …

Wend your way a Wednesday game, work it into your week, and  give it a whirl.
Wax with a win; wane while being walloped.
Whether winning or wincing, winsome Wednesday is a worthwhile way to wager wits and witness wisdom with wily ones!
